Stupid Braxton Hicks
I've been having them all day long. I am assuming I just did too much today but man, they suck! I"m exhausted so off to bed but wanted to track that today at 27w6d I am officially having them like I did with Griffin. Too bad I wasn't blogging back then because I don't remember all the details. Lee says they bothered much more and earlier but I just cannot remember. I do remember around this time is when I canceled my NYC trip? but that was yeast related causing the contractions...I am not really having any issues with that this time that I can tell.
Uggghhhhh! complain complain complain

Back to the grind....
I'm back from a great trip to St. Louis. As usual it was too short although I think my body was ready to go home. We did practically nothing and yet I exhausted myself. I think that's why they say to limit travel while pregnant :) At any rate it was wonderful seeing the family, including Gma and Meg, spend some time with Thomas and Suzi, catch up with Camilla and Lisa, meet Tori's baby Londyn :), and attend Kari's wedding! Go Kari and Doug!!
So now I'm back at home and back at work. By my estimations I have the rest of this week and 10 more for sure to get some solid work in. I have a LOT to do in that time but it's doable if I put my mind to it. I need to start making a list!
Lee and I met with the JWCL website task force (officially sounding, eh?) last night and got some great headway on that project. I'm excited to get it going and they all were very supportive of my ideas, lee's input, and added their own. I think we are actually going to do this. I feel soooo excited since this is my first major contribution to the group. It makes me happy to give!
G man was a bit of a terror last night, literally during the night. It gave me visions, nightmares, of what is to come once little babe arrives. I heard him awake around 12 midnight, then I either just fell back asleep or he did because I didn't hear him again until around 1:30. Then he just kept crying and crying and saying, "momma". Then of course a train came and he was yelling "train train" out his window. That's when I knew we were done for as far as sleeping was concerned. ha. I went to him thinking maybe I could just calm him down, snuggle on the couch and get him back to bed but he wouldn't calm down. He just kept crying and demanded the light on, then was screaming, "dadda dadda" When I asked if he wanted dadda he screamed more, "nooooooo". I finally got Lee since I wasn't sure what else to do. He did finally calm down, had a snack, took some ibuprofin but he decidedly did NOT want to go back to sleep (even though he had dark circles and was yawning). Everytime we would suggest he go to sleep he would lie down on the couch and snuggle in like he was going to sleep there. We just took him to bed with us finally. I really thought that was going to work too but then he just popped up, said, "t.v.", and tried to crawl off the bed. Lee took him to his crib and he was out in 15 minutes. None of us were really up that long but it's the disruption that I can't handle. I wouldn't even care if he slept with us but he won't sleep, he just wiggles around and hits us in the face. Oh well....I'm not as tired as I predicted but I'm not exactly perky.
Oh, and today was the 2nd haircut (pictures to come later). He's a handsome boy. He did really well with daycare drop off-he has been having troubles since last week so this was a nice change. She has been using her 6 passenger stroller as promised and they all seem to LOVE it :)
gotta go work, 10 weeks is ticking away.....

Meet me in St. Louie...
I'm in St. Louis!! I was sooo emotional leaving this a.m. It didn't hit me until I got to the gate, waiting for boarding but then I started welling up. By the time I was seated on the plane I was almost losing it. I managed to keep it together but, WOW, I didn't expect that. I think it was just a combo of guilt not taking G and also feeling like I somehow don't deserve a weekend away. I know I do but it was just emotions...
anyhow, I'm here and just chilling. Ha. Already talked to gma about food, the weather, more food, and her knees :) Gotta love her though.

Midwife appt. 27 weeks
Just some stats:
total weight gain so far 34 lbs. I am 4 weeks ahead of my weight gain with G man but I am gaining in a stair step pattern this time so let's hope for a small change in the next month.
I also had my Glucose checked, post-prandial, it was 98 so I"m cleared for Gestational Diabetes.
This pregnancy has been better in regards to little health problems as well so I"m happy with that. So far, no yeast issues or sickness. Just more muscle fatigue, aches, and TIRED!

If you listen closely you can hear him say, "Where's Griffin". Most adorable thing yet as a parent, I swear...your kid saying his own name.

Almost 27weeks!!
Shit Shit everywhere...
and some pee too! Thankfully Lee volunteered to let me shower first and tend to G man for breakfast. So, he was faced with pee and poo all over the dining and living rooms. Last night we retired to our bedroom before our usual time to watch t.v. (we can't cuddle on the couch because I'm too big now). Anyhow, when lights went out around our usual time the dog was pacing and trying to get in the bed. It was very annoying, especially to me, so I asked Lee if he had let her out. He said, "yes, around 9:30." In my gut I knew she probably needed to go again but she can just be so dumb so you never quite know and honestly I was just too comfy in the bed. Pure laziness! See where it got us? Covered in poo! Well, at least not literally, I suppose she could have pooed and peed on the bed while we were in it...that would have been worse. Yuk!
Convo with Griffin this a.m. as we were following Lee's car up Marlowe.
Me: "Griffin, what's that in front of us?"
G: "A car."
Me: "Who's car is it?"
G: "Tis Daddy's"
Me: "YES. What color is daddy's car?"
G: "Tis Black"
So cute! Of course it wasn't as clear as the writing but I love being able to communicate with him. On our rides now we search for diggers, buses, trucks of various working capabilities, and of course cars (which are all around but he only likes to point out certain ones).

Aaaaaaahhhhh!
I feel so pampered. I had an hour massage today followed by an eyebrow waxing. Now some might not find waxing therapeutic but I do :) I'm crazy in many ways, I know. Anyhow, I feel freaking awesome. The only part of my body that still hurts is of course my right SI joint...I fear this may stick with me the entire rest of the pregnancy. But as long as I can temper the pain from what it was several weeks ago I can manage.
anyhow, busy busy back at work.

visiting...
Today was a very trying day with Griffin. Then after most of the day was done I was talking to a friend who 1/2 jokingly and 1/2 suggesting said, "Oh those are the days I just give my daughter some tylenol or ibuprofin and plop her in bed." So, I did this and man, Genius, it worked! We actually had a great time the rest of the evening and were even able to go out to dinner. Must be his molars still working their way in.
The sweeneys are here. We are having a blast. Last night we just hung out, played, had dinner, baked some cookies, and then to bed. This a.m. we all went to the zoo (sans Lee), home for nap (they went to Angelo's for lunch), then naps, then we gathered back at the house and headed to Toys r Us and the mall. The kids are just great with Griffin, especially Daniel. Daniel also loves the dog. They are both such nice kids. I so wish I could have seen them more in the last few years and the years to come...we'll see what we can do about that now that we are not as far from one another.
anyhow, I"m off to watch some mindless t.v. and then bed. I took an epsom salt bath just now and it really helped the achiness I had been having all day.
Oh, I forgot to mention the best part of the evening. They have these strapped in trampoline things at the mall. There is no age limit, just a weight min. of 20 lbs. (G is about 26 now). Anyhow, I have wanted to do it with him before and he seemed REALLY interested so he and Daniel each did it. He was all smiles and cracking up the entire time. I thought he was going to be slightly scared but not one bit. ha. He wanted to go higher and higher. There was some minor protest when it ended but he was pretty easily distracted by his newest pal Great Uncle John :)
goodnight.

TIRED :(
I'm not sure exactly why I'm so tired other than business and then I've been wired at the end of the day so going to bed a bit later, but man, I"m sooo farkin' tired today. Oh, I'm also growing a baby :)
The sweeneys arrive today! I"m excited but need to tidy the house a bit. I"m not really even sure what we are going to do. Lee is going to be pretty unavailable this weekend due to work and Mike's bachelor party. That will certainly not help my fatigue but he is committed. Only 9 days until my trip home! I feel that is going to be busy as well but I"m excited to have some no kid time for a few days :)
well, off to tidy and then some errands with G. later....

Jessica has come and gone
I had such a wonderful visit with her. I felt slightly bad it wasn't more exciting but hey, this is my life now :) I think she really enjoyed being with Griffin, she even changed a few diapers and got to experience a blow out poop. Lucky her-ha! She and I also had the chance to finally discuss some of our trials and tribulations in the past. That was great to hear her honesty finally and for me to share with her some thoughts honestly as well. Neither of us remember many of the details now really which was humorous but I think we both remember the hurt and realize that our friendship has changed and is still in repair. I hope though that this allows each of us to feel more comfortable to share our lives with each other. I know for me it does :) I now know that I will feel sooooo excited to call her and announce the birth of our 2nd child and I will be happy to call and wish her a merry christmas, even if I get her voicemail. Heck I may even send them an anniversary card-lol!
Lastly, Jessica is a speech pathologist. She is an excellent one. Of course I don't really know if she is an excellent one since I don't know any others nor have I ever worked with her or others BUT I know she is excellent because she has worked incredibly hard to get where she is, she is 110% dedicated to her work, it is her love, her passion truly and that exudes from her. At any rate, she's good and I had discussed some language development issues/concerns I had with her regarding Griffin around 18 months old. She gave me some great suggestions and they all helped tremendously. So, I was eager to have her give me her opinions now on his development. She had such great things to share about him and it eased my mind knowing that that "little voice" isn't completely crazy or made up. So, I think we shall get him evaluated and go from there. I'm not really "freaking out" nor do I want to sign G up for therapy but I am glad to know there are some ways we can help foster his development and that it may actually help :)
so, that's my last couple days. glad to be back to "normal" but still no daycare so busy busy with a 2 year old. He's such a charmer though. He has been playing hide and seek the last week or so. Cracks me up b/c he will just randomly hide in the closet. So funny. He wants us to find him. Anyhow, also today for the first time he said his own name. He was hiding in the closet and I kept saying, "Where's Griffin" so after many repeats of this he hid himself and I hear this little voice say, "where's Griffin" hahahahaha. So flipping adorable. I love him!

To Buffalo and back....
jiggity jig :) I survived my first solo car trip with G man. It wasn't so bad really although I did have a lot of anxiety over going. I"m not exactly sure why but I think it was because I just don't feel at my 100% these days and he is very very active. But in the end it was wonderful to see the Edsons, their new home, and get away for a few days.

weight check
How is it I've already gained 33 lbs? Even if you go by the fact that I was 5 lbs. lighter starting that would put me at 28 lb gain so far. I gained in total 43 with G man so I only have 15 to go with 15 weeks. I guess that isn't too bad but ugggh. I feel like a house, my belly seems smaller....I will continue to just "go with the flow".
Checking in....
I've been busy with G man the past few days. A good busy but busy enough not to be on line much. Tuesday we had a lazy morning followed by a lazy afternoon. That kid slept soooo much that day. It was very surreal. Don't worry though he was back to his typical behavior yesterday :) Up at 7:15 and a 2 hour nap with a waking in the middle. Thankfully he didn't fight me too much when I put him down around 7:30 p.m. last night. I just was beat and Lee was out at his illustrators meeting. Griffin received this adorable bubble make Curious George doll for his birthday and although cute and fun it really gives him troubles. He wants it all the time (it's a bath or outside toy only given the wet factor), gets mad that it doesn't work right, the arm broke on it and this makes him very upset (George, fix, George, fix). At any rate, he has a memory of it being in the bathroom so now if the door is open he just wigs out saying, "George George" over and over. Fun stuff!
Yesterday we had the Lakewood City Nurse over to our house for a Lead screening for G man. We should know the results in a week or so. I'm hoping there isn't anything significant....I really can't deal with crappy news right now. In the grand scheme that would be minor but my emotions are revving for instability this week. G was amazing for the lead test. He didn't fuss at all and the nurse kept saying "drip drip" as his blood went into the vial so of course he started saying "drip drip". Then I said, "you are such a good boy" and he said "good boy". ha. Completely unphased we headed out for a playdate at Mary and Natalee's house afterwards. It was HOT yesterday. I think we both got overheated. I know I did at least. The kids had a good time though overall so I was happy to have done it. Mary has a wonderful fenced back yard which was nice for preggo mommy as well :) We got home and both went for naps. I practically passed out, hence my thinking I had gotten overheated.
I felt pretty awful the rest of yesterday with a headache and achey body---yuck! I swear it really is always something. BTW, my hip is getting better. I wouldn't say it's back to "normal" but I am going up and down stairs with little to no pain the past few days. Oddly, the adjustments are making it feel worse on the day of and then much much better the next day. I really am gaining empathy for my patients :)
Anyhow, Lee was so nice to me last night-with some prodding and encouragement from me! lol. He got me some gatorade, water, and rubbed my feet. It was so nice to have someone take care of me.
Today I am working so G man is spending the morning with his Baba Aunt Sandy. Then I'll take him home for a nap. Lisa is coming over this afternoon to watch him for us. Thank goodness for good friends. Otherwise I would be SOL this week. Whew! I feel like this isn't making much sense-maybe my head is still in a daze from yesterday. It's hot again here today so I'm happy to just be in the AC all day. yes!
I guess it really is true what they say about 2nd children...they get no pictures and all hand me downs. Ha. This kid isn't even born yet and I can barely find time for a belly shot. It's been over two weeks since my last and I just need to do it. I was just not feeling well enough last night. I'll try to take one later today though. gotta document the belly.
One last thing on Griffin. He now says "O tay" for Ok. Very useful since he'll respond to questions either with "no" or "o tay" but the past few days he just says "O tay" to everything. For instance, me to him: Griffin please don't throw that off the stairs.
Griffin to me: Otay momma (then throws it off the stairs)
Me to him: Griffin Momma asked you not to do that. Do you want to go in time out?
Griffin: Otay. (runs away)
Me to him: Please don't do that again
Griffin: Otay. (throws something else off the stairs)
Funny kid, eh? lol.

Rainy Day
Wow! is all I can say. It is 10 a.m. and I had to finally get out of bed because my body was sore but G man is STILL sleeping. It has been storming here all a.m. so I guess he likes the cozy, dark, rainy day :) At any rate, I really need to wake him soon so it doesn't throw his entire day off (we have sitters this afternoon and evening). I still hate waking a sleeping baby (toddler).
Otherwise, I'm feeling alright. My leg/groin/back pain is improving. Yesterday was the best day since last week but by the end of the day I was still getting pain. I am still hoping to go to buffalo this weekend but I"ll admit the drive has me a bit nervous. I"ve warned Colette that they may be gaining a child AND a houseguest (me) if we do come and she swears they are up for it....I am thinking she means Kevin is up for it-ha! At least Molly will help entertain him.
gotta go do a few things before work, including wake G....boo hoo.

Crabass
I am just so freaking crabby and annoyed. Today is by far a much better day regarding the pain BUT it's still there and it still really hurts. As the day wears on it hurts more too....to the point that my body is just begging me to go to bed. I HATE more than anything to be dependent on people for simple daily activities. So, I am trying my hardest not to make Lee do everything but I am so limited as to what I can do without severe pain. Ugh, I"m just miserable. Thankfully he is really trying to fill in the gaps. Sometimes they do come through for us. ha.
On other notes, 2 of my on line friends got their BFPs this week. It's soooo exciting. I feel more excited in some ways than when I got my own. Maybe it's because it seemed so dang easy for us to get preggo but at any rate I'm thrilled and can't wait to "travel" with them through their pregnancy journeys. Yeah Dani and Jen!!
Griffin has been in a great mood today. Wild but happy and not too crabby. I think he just needed some time at home. That is mom's conclusion. We have had him on the run quite a bit. I can't wait until next June when I can be home with him 4 days/week...that will be challenging but wonderful!
well, Mark and Kelly are on their way over to hang out. Their last night here and we are hitting up Angelo's ! yummo.

Some happy thoughts....
since my last two posts have been about me and pain I figured I should attempt to focus on something else, like my wonderful son, Griffin. :) The pain is still there and still really bad but let's talk about the boy.
He's been really crabby lately but still his funny exploring self. I am loving this age honestly...I think Lee might disagree but ??? Anyhow, he is really attempting to use more words and randomly naming things (the correct names) that he sees around. It's kind of funny....like he's showing off. Some examples, "keys", puts key in the car, "turn", opens trunk, "stroller", points at stroller, "ride". Then up in the sky a plane comes by, "plane", I asked him if it was a jet? "Jet" said all manly followed by jet noises. freaking hilarious.
He is also thoroughly enjoying baths these days but only one he is actually IN them. It's a struggle to get him in so we have been bribing him a bit with BUBBLES. he freaking loves them!
The oddest thing he's doing lately is waking every morning and says, "no baby" or "I'm not a baby" or "the baby".....at least this is what we think he's saying. He "might" be talking about his baby doll in his crib or he might be talking about his blankie or ??? we just aren't sure but of course it's hard not to read into it in regards to the new baby. Hmmm...guess we'll have to wait more until he gets better at English.
The next two weeks he is not in daycare (she is on vacation unpaid). It should be interesting to say the least. I have a lot planned for us together and he will also be watched some by friends/family so I can work a little. We are heading to Buffalo next weekend and then my friend Jessica comes for a few days and then the Sweeneys arrive the weekend after. It should be fun albeit crazy!

Pain, round 2?
So, I thought I was on the mend. I guess my body has another idea. I know it is all well within normal given how many preggos I've personally worked with in this kind of pain but man, it sucks. I also am thinking my particular situation has not been helped by my two past right sided injuries. boo hoo. I just hope this doesn't remain until november and I am making it my goal to get this rehabbed next year. I'm definitely going to call the PT after the new year begins and get going with this. It's just gone on too long and if I ever want to even THINK about having a third child I must rehab it. Anyhow, I'm doing all I can currently: adjustments, ice, massage, stretching (mild), and rest. All I can do, I suppose...

PAIN!!!!
I was adjusting a patient yesterday afternoon, side posture for anyone that knows what that is, and I heard a pop....not on the patient but on ME. The pop was followed by very sharp pubic pain. YOUCH! Since then it has bordered b/t numb in that area, sharp shooting pains, and just a general ache. I got adjusted this a.m. and it helped moderately but man, I'm HURTING! this stinks. It is on the same side as my ab. injury so I'm wondering if I did something with that or if it is just pelvic issues from the uterus stretching or something else? I hate self diagnosing but seriously what is any doc going to do for me at this point. I"m getting a massage later this a.m. and going to try to have my friend stretch me out (she's a pilates/yoga teacher).
I just had to whine as I sit here in pain.
UPDATE: I am feeling better as the day goes. I'm hoping it is the ice and adjustment. I'm going to go rest now.
