Back to working out

and I feel the same as I did before. The gym is so very weird and such very weird thoughts go through my mind as I sweat. Therapeutic nonetheless but weird.

Busy weekend

Cavs game friday night, celebration of 85 year old gpa saturday night, toasting to Mark and Kelly getting engaged, drinking, cooking, swimming, NOT freaking out :) It was busy indeed but a fun time. Cavs won, I'm officially gaining a sister soon :), noone died at the party (not funny but sort of made you laugh, right?), I am coping MUCH better.

So, what else is new? We found a new sitter. I like her a lot and Lee seemed pleased that she wasn't too old and not too young. he said, "she seems capable." The kids got along well too and we will use her again next week. Griffin told us about a dream he had this weekend. He says that it was really crazy because he was the daddy, Paisley was the mommy, I was the baby, and daddy was the boy. I apparently cried a lot. Maybe he was inside my head last week more than I realized! whoops. Lee thought it was a bit oedipal and although I agree I think it is very age appropriate...figuring out all those "jobs" we have in life and where he fits in. He is also getting better at identifying people as either male or female although he doesn't know why, "you just are a girl" he says to Aunt Tamara. We are working on it but keeping it age appropriate :)

The office was roaring again today and ended a very busy month! Hope next month is just as busy. Not sure if and when the other shoe will drop due to the economy but I'm going to plan on it NOT (really I'm preparing for if it does but I want to stay optimistic).

Deep Breaths

I just keep saying this and doing this. It must be working because I'm still alive (small joke). Really, though, I'm not coping like I should be....gotta put some thought into how to make this better. and quick!

haha. today I will begin taking care of the spain/bank account issue!! yipee!! I hope it goes through smoothly.

I had an awesome birthday...nothing out of the ordinary really but just a really great day and I got to talk to MANY of my friends which rocked! Had a wonderful dinner with family followed by a great tasting cake from Kelly (you rock!). A great day all around. The sun was even shining so we got out for a walk....

speaking of the walk Griffin did pull a Forrest Gump on me on our walk. He just started running and he didn't stop. When he was getting quite far from me I got a bit nervous and began yelling, "STOP! turn around." He would stop, turn around, look at me, then keep going. What a fool! He made it to the end of Ramona with me screaming like a fool at him...THEN he crossed Ramona, AT CLIFTON. It was soooooo scary. I ran with Paisley in arms to him and we had many words about how this was not ok but sheesh that boy is fiercely independent..he's gonna get himself hit. What do I do? Gotta keep really working on that one.

Paisley is either on a growth spurt or just really enjoying her food lately. Yesterday she ate breakfast, two morning snacks, followed by her lunch, followed by most of Griffin's lunch he wasn't interested in, napped, snack, THREE plates of dinner, and a slice of cake. Plus she nursed 4 times. Holy Cow!!

Happy Birthday to me

and our bank account is only negative $2800...it's ok. I don't want the rest of today to be painted with this so I'm getting it out of me here. releasing it out of me..the anger and upset :) can you tell? I hope you can..cause I really need to have a good day. Tomorrow should be when I can begin to resolve this mess. For today I will enjoy the day I was born. My friend said to Griffin the other day, "you must celebrate your mother because without her you wouldn't exist." So today I celebrate MY mother and HER mother and so on :) Thanks for birthing mom!! Love you...this is as much YOUR day as it is mine!

Birthday Plans

tomorrow I will be 31. Wow this last year has flown by....zooom! I really didn't mind turning 30 at all and in fact the year proved to be one of my best yet but this 31 biz-nass is a little disconcerting...I mean, 40 is only 9 years away? for realz? not sure I"m ready for it. haha. one day at a time.

Plans for tomorrow involve peace, time with the children, spaghetti dinner at home, and maybe some cake in there at some point. Time will tell how the day goes but I'm expecting a good one, maybe even a great one!

No title

Can't think of a title to this blog post. Just want to write a few things down.

P is still sleeping. We think we solved the issue (although I won't hold my breathe) by letting her have a water bottle with her while sleeping. Guess she was thirsty so waking up?? Griffin never had this issue because he would always prefer to drink his calories over eat food.

Griffiin had two accidents yesterday which was just so very odd for him. And of course after I said he was doing so well. I just really cannot figure it out but really I know it will resolve some day so I try hard not to worry.

We went for a play date yesterday. The kid's name was not Joe. Griffin kept calling him Joe. lol. He insisted it was Joe's house, Joe's toys, etc. It made me chuckle and reminded me of the Cosby show epi where Rudy called her friend Kenny, BUD. haha. It gave me a chuckle.

I needed a chuckle after the morning I had yesterday. I guess some person in Spain wanted to rain on my parade and decided to steal some money from us. It will all be resolved but has me feeling stressed to the max at the moment. deep breaths and keep my sanity in your thoughts. :)

I don't dare utter the words...

so i will blog about it. We are all getting sleep! sssshhhhhh, don't tell Paisley but she's doing a great job and I hope she keeps it up. No seriously friday-saturday night she slept 7:45-6 a.m., sat-sun she slept for Lee almost 3 hours during the day then down for the night at 7:45 and didn't wake until 8:15!!!! OMG I thought she was dead. Then last night she took a late nap from 5:30-7 and then went back to bed at 9:30 and slept until 7 a.m.!!! It has been glorious.

Griffin has also been doing very well. He hasn't wet the bed or had an accident in almost 2 weeks. I'm sure we aren't entirely out of the woods but I think he may be finally getting it. Yahoo! We took him yesterday for a lesson in money....turn the coins to dollars, count the dollars, pick a toy that is less than the dollars, purchase the toy.....success! well, sort of, he is only 3.5 so I'm not sure how much he totally gets it but it was fun nonetheless.

I have yet another busy week at work. It's so good to be busy but I'm quite tired (even with all the sleep) and my body is pretty sore. I need to get back to the gym so I can build my own endurance. Later this week is my birthday and I"m looking forward to a sunny, quiet day with the kids...rain is in the forecast at 30% and I"m just hoping the 70% is more on my side.

Busy World

Life is just spinning past us in the Norris house. Between work, play dates, the kids in general, Lee's school meetings, and any other amount of sanity helping activity (ie. dates, bar hopping, etc)....we are all pretty exhausted. Luckily spring is just around the corner (well officially here by date but not by temp.) and we will be busy but OUTSIDE! yay!

I of course thought of a million things to blog about this week when I didn't have a chance or was banned from internet (self-inflicted) at work....and now, nothing comes to mind. The kids are doing great. I am surviving. Lee is surviving. I think we are both feeling a bit fried at both ends but it's been worse before and we are generally all in happy places :) So, we'll get through even if we would love more sleep.

I attended our CSA meeting last weekend and decided I'm going to just buy our veggies instead of plant a garden this year. I will still do my tomatoes right outside the back door and would love to also do a lettuce pot so need to get researching that. If I am really feeling ambitious I would like to attempt a lattice structure and plant either zuchini or cukes. I have had success with zucchini in the past so I'm tempted to do those again but cukes are oh so good with tomatoes especially :) So, no more community garden...it's nice in theory but this year as lee said, "it's a bit much." So, maybe next year!

A great day guys

That is what Griffin said as he walked through the park yesterday. It WAS a great day! The sun shined all day. First we visited the botanical gardens and did NOT go rug shopping with Gudrun! Then home for some lunch and I was hoping P would nap but that happened in the car instead. Griffin and Paisley played around the house while I did some cleaning. Then off to a new park with Tamara. It was a blast and although griffin in typical fashion didn't want to get clothed or leave the house, once we were out he enjoyed it thoroughly.

Griffin: "This is a great day guys. doncha think?"

Paisley enjoyed herself too! If I can ever figure out the computer at home again I will post pictures :)

I'm Best Week Ever...

I surpassed a professional goal in the practice today of #patients in the course of a week :) It feels good and I want to keep this feeling. I know from past goals reached I likely won't next week BUT I will for sure again and SOON! yippee growth!!

I spy

Griffin has never been one of those kids to "perform". he would master some new talent and then hold it in secrecy, only to be seen if you were watching at the very right exact moment. So, when I think of new things to introduce to him it is no surprise when he wants nothing to do with it. ha. fun times!

A few weeks ago we were driving somewhere and he was really flipping out so we started to play "I spy" with each other. To our (or at least my) surprise he played along. I really figured it was a one time thing but then yesterday we were in the car and he says, "mommy I spy something green and you are driving right to it!" ha. It was a sign. We played the game the rest of the trip!! I just love when stuff like that works :)

On crappy news Paisley is back to sleeping horribly. I am spent. Lee is spent. Ugh. I am soooo glad I slept so much when I was younger...don't regret that for a moment.

Quick Update

It was a nice weekend of getting out and hanging around the house...I should say I nice mix of those since you can't likely do them at the same time ;)

Anyhow, the kids were in pretty good moods as well which always helps. We were both able to do a fair bit of cleaning, washing down the upstairs woodwork, vacuuming, and changing over Griffin's sheets. I tackled mount laundry and almost won-just two more loads and we are entirely caught up!!

Griffin did lose his mind temporarily yesterday when he wouldn't stop tackling Lee. It's always much more amusing when you aren't the one being attacked--haha. He has also been singing a lot more which cracks us up and he knows it which perpetuates more singing....we all win then, right? Lee did some arts n crafts with the kids yesterday including making Griffin's first sculpture--a rock---to go with the Daddy and baby turtle monsters Lee made. The turtles were named Wondad and Ronald (or something like that). He slept with them so I think that project was a hit. Paisley played with play doh at the big table while they did the sculpty..she's growing up so much! She actually played with it too until well, she ate it....that was inevitable it seems. (when get bored, eat things with that kid!).

ok, back to my lenten promise.....

The Frilled Lizard

If you are not familiar with this lizard google it for a video or you can go to the national geographic website to view what Griffin was watching, and impersonating, this morning, naked, standing on the computer chair. That kid is a nut ball. He did learn that the frilled lizard is also called the bicycle lizard :) On a side note he has mastered the computer mouse.

Paisley's weigh-in

Quick before work begins ;)

Paisley is 24 lb. 6.4 oz. (just under 75%) and she is 31 in. tall (just over 75%).

This doesn't surprise me as she is growing through clothes like mad. She is in 18 months stuff pretty solidly now and a few 24month. The 2T is still big though but I am sure that she will be in that by late summer.
